found to be food insecure. The highest food insecurity is found to be in Chhattisgarh
with 58% of its sample households being food insecure. This is followed by Meghalaya (52.24%). Other states with food insecurity higher than the national average
are Uttar Pradesh (30.15%), Uttarakhand (32.48%), Maharashtra (33.48%), Tamil
Nadu (34.91%), Madhya Pradesh (37.98%), Jharkhand (40.45%), Bihar (43.24%)
and Odisha 45.77%).
4 The Model
The main focus of this study is to examine the impact of weather shock on household
level food insecurity and also to identify other determinants of food insecurity. In
order to accomplish this objective a binary logistic regression model is used details
of which are shown below. The model is as follows:
