nel. The absolute ages enabled to constrain the phases of aggradation and incision.
The age data characteristically signifies major episodes of valley palaeofloodplain
abandonment and overall chronology of late Quaternary fluvial development of
Yamuna River. The OSL ages of the samples from the represented sections indicate
four major phases of sediment aggradation, punctuated by periods of incision during the Late Quaternary. For better understanding and correlation, these aggradation
events are considered sectorwise. In sector I (North of MCT to Yamunotri) the
oldest recorded OSL age is obtained near Ozri village. A 7.5 m thick sandy horizon
in fluvial deposit exposed in road cutting provided an OSL age of 83  ±  5  ka
