Contrary to the earlier situation, the company has set up a small tool inventory
system and is using different mediums to store the tools and equipment properly.
6 Conclusion
Implementation of the 5S methodology has proved very fruitful for the company.
By implementing the given solutions based on 5S, the company has benefitted in
many terms. It has seen a reduction in the number of scrapped items as well as in
the number of items it needs to send for rework. The company has noted that while
they are completing their projects on time now, their products also have better quality
than before.
Safety of the company workers has been improved drastically as well. Every
process has now been standardized, and everyone follows it thoroughly as well.
This is also because the employees have developed the self-discipline to follow the
standard routine. The workplace is now cleaner as well.
Hence, a simple 5S method can be applied in SMEs, and results start reflecting in
a few months. The beauty of 5S lies in its simple approach and ease of application.
