There are two methods to deal with the shock wave in the supersonic flow
field. One is Shock-Capturing, the other is Shock-Fitting.
Shock-Fitting method regards shock wave as an unknown moving
boundary, separates shock wave according to shock discontinuity condition
Rankine–Hugonun shock relation, and accurately calculates the position of
the shock wave. It solves differential equation with the approximate method
in the smooth area and Rankine–Hugonun relation at the discontinuity. The
method has the advantages of high precision, accurate shock position, and
clear physical image. However, the calculation is very complicated, so it is
only suitable for those flows with simple shock wave motion and clear flow
pattern.
