Water conservancy and hydropower engineering is one of the oldest engineering sciences. In flood control projects, data such as flood storage capacity,
flood discharge capacity, and levee height need to be determined; flood forecasting needs to know the flood operation law; industrial development must
prevent pollution of rivers, and these problems can be solved by studying
open channel flow (as shown in Figs. 3.99 and 3.100). The aerated water
flowing down through the high dam has great kinetic energy and will cause
erosion. Various different forms of energy dissipaters must be established (as
