3.5.2 Steady Uniform Flow in Open Channel
According to the definition, the steady uniform flow in open channel refers
to the flow with a parallel straight streamline, and the pressure on the free
surface is atmospheric pressure, as shown in Fig. 3.27. Obviously, in this case,
the depth and velocity distribution of the channel remains unchanged. If a
section of ABCD is taken for analysis in the uniform flow, the weight of water
W, the friction force on channel boundary F f , the hydrodynamic pressure at
both ends of the flow section P 1 and P 2 , respectively, and the inclination
angle of the channel θ (the angle between the bottom line of the channel
and the horizontal direction), the force balance is established along the flow
