eutrophication. Furthermore, copper contributes nearly 36% of the marine ecotoxicity impact and nitrogen close to 72% of marine eutrophication.
In the alluvial mine, 83% of freshwater toxicity stems from copper, 75% of
freshwater eutrophication from phosphate, 81% of marine ecotoxicity from copper,
and finally 53% of marine eutrophication from oxides of nitrogen. These compounds enter the tailings pond from use in the chemical separation process.
