Higher content of nitrite and ammonium ions indicates the presence of reducing
conditions in the groundwater in spring, than in other seasons [1, 14, 43, 97, 98, 127,
132]. Nitrate ions dominate the other species, but also four samples situated close to
the garbage dumps, have a large content of ammonium ions.
3.3.1.1 Organic Pollutants
When an excess of organic matter, such as manure or sewage, comes into contact
with different types of water, an organic pollution occurs. In the case of a vapor by
organic matter input, the number of decomposition products increases, the decomposition yield being directly proportional to the amount of oxygen required, reaching
in some situations the depletion of dissolved oxygen and implicitly the damage to
aquatic organisms. As they die, they are broken down by aerobic degradation mech-
