Based on input and as a result of defining the characteristic hydrological units
run in the ArcSwat application, all the characteristics of each hydrographical basin
have been considered, resulting in an integrated database to which we can generate
reports of land-use distribution, the distribution of soils and slopes, as well as the
distribution of hydrological units defined at last on each hydrographical sub-basin.
During the next stage of the ArcSwat application, a series of meteorological
parameters have been measured on a representative period at the Braila meteorological station for 19 years [243–36]. From the climatic point of view, the analyses
natural unit is located in a dry area, with a low precipitation intake, on a multiannual
average of 447 mm (Braila Meteorological Station), the average annual temperature
of +10.9 °C, the potential evapotranspiration of 650–750 mm recording an annual
air humidity deficiency of 250–350 mm [34].
The used meteorological data refer to the following. The temperature data
includes: the multiyear maximum, average and minimum temperature of the air
(°C), the standard deviation of the maximum and minimum temperature of the air.
The rainfall data includes: the average monthly multiyear rainfall and the standard
deviation from the average, the asymmetry degree of the rainfall compared to the
average, the chances of a rainy day after one with no rainfall or of a rainy day after
another one, the average number of rainfall days, the intensity of maximum rainfall
in half an hour (mm/hour). The next data was: average multiyear solar radiation, the
average monthly multiyear dew point, the average wind speed (m/s), etc.
After identifying the location data and the information about using the meteorological station with specific meteorological parameters in the Small Island of Braila,
the tables with entry data were written with the ArcSwat application for the geographical database based on the parameters of the 15 hydrographical basins catalogued
under the aspect of integration in the database and referring to the land-use, soil
characteristics and the slope side, as well as the meteorological parameters.
Having thus organized a GIS database characteristic for the studied area, The
Small Island of Braila, using the ArcSwat application, there have been created layers
representing: the basins and the hydrographical network of this area, soil features,
land-use characteristics, as well as the land slopes [35, 36].
For this purpose, a database has been developed that includes the necessary information on hydrographic basins, liquid leakage, soils, vegetation, etc. The data model
used is a vector type that allows extracting information from scanned and georeferenced maps, or from other raster sources (satellite imagery, orthophotomaps, etc.).
By running the ArcSwat application during the reference period of the meteorological data, we can achieve a variety of data, through which we can undergo
statistical and mathematical analysis. The analysis are useful to emphasize the physiogeographical point of view of the studied area according to the necessities of the users,
as well as the errors that can render the resulted data inconclusive for the desired
study.
