Fig. 2.4 Monitoring stations of surface waters (left) and of groundwaters (right) [93]
– dredging reduction or modification;
– cross-basin adductions;
– restoring floodplains; the improvement of the hydrological conditions of channels;
– restoring habitats;
– diversifying the structure of banks;
– creating buffer bands along river sectors in order to reduce diffuse pollution;
– building passages for the ichthyofauna to pass;
– hydrotechnical works for improving the circulation of the water along certain
channels within the Danube Delta;
– the improvement of the hydrological regime downstream from the reservoirs, etc.
(Fig. 2.6) [93].
For the groundwaters, preventative measures have been set in place:
– it is prohibited to evacuate pollutants directly in the groundwaters;
– regulation of evacuations from point sources that may produce pollution;
– measures for preventing the significant pollutant leaking from technical installations;
– the prevention/reduction of the impact of accidental pollutions;
– the modernization of the wastewater treatment stations through the introduction
of a new stage;
– extending the aeration procedure in the biological stage;
– improving the quality of the effluents;
– installing an automatic system of monitoring the quality of wastewater;
