the meaning of conservation, (4) develop a council that binds together the community
to mediate land use and internal conflict, access to information and a voice in management practices (CONANP developed a council that will be later described in
detail) (5) apply regional research to increase the incentives and opportunities for
long-term management of the land and its resources, and (6) establishment of a
revolving fund for small conservation/resource management loans.
Biospheres promote long-term environmental research and monitoring the
effects of global change, but little attention has been given to the monitoring of
social variables such as population dynamics, land tenure, or land use that directly
affect other ecological processes and the conditions in and surrounding biospheres
(Kaus 1992). Without describing in detail all the research that has been conducted
in RBM until today, a simple search on Scopus and Web of Science databases demonstrates the emphasis of ecological studies over any other studied topic (Fig. 10.5).
