Test Methods and Identification
of Recycled Polyester

Abstract The recycled polyester analysis is a subject matter dealt within in this
chapter which draws attention to ascertaining the nature of the fabric, to uncover if
they have been unequivocally processed and recycled to what percentage. An updated
survey of textile fabrics, processing, recycling and analysis renders knowledge about
the molecular weight of the material and purity to meet global demand with breakthrough in the application of recycled polyester. An array of techniques has been
engaged including nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF), gel permeation/inductively coupled plasma (GPC/ICP) to examine
the composition of reclaimed materials or recycled materials from the manufacture
of polyester-based materials. Other mechanical/physical testing during the polyester
characterization and contamination might attribute to the positive impact on the product while sealing and dispatching is done. In accordance with mechanical testing,
the assessment of tensile strength of a material, modulus and strain of polyester is
prerequisite. Notably, the route of synthesis substantially affects the properties that
in turn to the application of various industry and indoor. Ideal properties of such
recycled polyester are broadly ease of designing, corrosion resistant with low density, user-friendly. The resultant is an increased production. Recycling polyester is
one of the finest actions to be taken in the dynamic era of the textile industry.
