Emre Eftelioglu is a Data Scientist at Cargill Inc. where he focuses on analytics on
spatial, spatiotemporal, and sensor datasets to improve food production efficiency
in a sustainable way. His research is focused on identifying and analyzing patterns
from spatial datasets to understand the effect of location on phenomena. He received
his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota (Chaps. 12, 16,
and 17).
Lara B. Fowler, J.D. is a Senior Lecturer at Penn State Law and Assistant Director
at the Penn State Institutes of Energy and the Environment. With a background as a
practicing mediator and attorney, she focuses on interdisciplinary research and managing conflicts that arise in water, energy, and agriculture (Chap. 20).
Hongkai Gao is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Arizona State University working to develop a Green Infrastructure Support Tool (GIST) for decision-making on
water resources management (Chap. 10).
Craig Harris is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology of Michigan
State University. He focuses on the behavior of tightly and moderately coupled
social-natural systems, including agriculture, fisheries, and food safety (Chap. 18).
Kaisa Huhta is a senior lecturer in European Union law at the University of
Eastern Finland Law School. Her research focuses on EU energy law; in addition to
which she actively carries out consultancy work in the field of EU and energy law
(Chap. 6).
Elena Irwin is an environmental and urban economist specializing in land use,
coupled with human-natural systems, and sustainability. She is a Professor in the
Department of Agricultural, Environment, and Development Economics and the
Faculty Director of the Sustainability Institute at Ohio State University (Chap. 4).
Carey W. King is a Research Scientist and Assistant Director of the Energy
