Chapter 13
Some Frontier Technologies
for Aptamers in Medical Applications
Yiyang Dong, Sai Wang, Lianhui Zhao, Jinbin Yang, and Yan Xu
Abstract Up to now, many medical applications have been widely reported based
on the successful development of novel aptamers and continuous evolution of relevant aptamer-based technologies. However, class-specific aptamers are currently
not available, high-throughput aptamer affinity characterization tools are scarce,
and the stoichiometric info of aptamer-target complexes cannot be easily procured
for advanced structural biology or quantitative analytical chemistry research. In
this chapter, some cutting-edge technologies, as exemplified by UVMag-SELEX,
aptamer biochip, and aptamer oriented native mass spectrometry, are selected with
discretion from many aptamer-based frontier technologies and well presented for
further expanded medical applications.
