2.4 Connectional Neuroanatomy
Three types of white matter connections (or tracts, fibres, bundles, fibre pathways,
fascicles) are distinguished in the cerebral hemispheres (Fig. 2.27):
• Commissural tracts
• Association tracts
• Projection tracts
In addition, three cerebellar paired peduncles, superior peduncle, middle peduncle, and inferior peduncle, connect the cerebellum to the brainstem: midbrain, pons,
and medulla, respectively.
