How many flies can the world sustainably contain? Every conceivable
question involving the integrity, extent, and plausible proposition inherent to the
very idea of consciousness meets its implacable Self in any Other. Our doubts, ideals, and earnest insistence are, at every juncture, made whole by the ecological
context in which consciousness operates. We test the veracity of humanity against
the life and death of other species. Beyond that biological bottom-line, there is only
one guiding principle that equates with all the truths our species has generated: the
amelioration of suffering.
In fashioning stories handed down between generations, the legerdemain of literary exposition has enabled us to pose for all the selfies in the world before a picture
of annihilation; to pretend that we inhabit the requisite psychological profile and
dexterity to at once describe and, for the time being, elude our own ephemerality. As
we verge nearer and nearer, location by location, to the most inconvenient of all
scenarios, the attenuation of pain, Hippocratically endorsed generation after generation, comes into precise focus.
93.3 The Geopolitics of Ecological Resolution
A complete and comprehensive set of legislative fiats oriented to the surcease of the
exploitation of any other species, as well as our own, runs the gamut from deep
bioethics to politics. De-escalation of ecological paradox by definition requires the
embrace of a pellucid idealism almost entirely out of fashion (Fig.  93.2). Not a
lament for lost causes, but their celebration. For example:
• Abolition of all animal products.
• Universal, free education through graduate school and/or any guild-like system
students desire.
• Metal, plastic, synthetic-chemical, greenhouse gasses, and radiation free
societies.
• An eco-credit world banking system.
• A re-wilding of every prolific habitat worldwide, not just 50%: In the United
States, this would encompass rendering as much as 97% of America, which is
still rural (though inhabited by over 60 million people in at least 2323 counties),
wild, or semi-wild.

• The complete opening of all borders to all life forms, an end to any so-called citizen requirements, and, hence, an end to choosing one species over another.
