Christine Wamsler, PhD, is an internationally-renowned expert in sustainable
development with focus on disaster risk reduction, climate change
adaptation, urban resilience and transformation. She is Professor at Lund
University Centre for Sustainability Studies (LUCSUS) in Sweden and
Honorary Fellow at the Global Urban Research Centre and the Institute
for Development Policy and Management (IDPM) of the University of
Manchester, UK. Previously, she worked as co-director of the Societal
Resilience Centre. In parallel to her academic research, Christine works
on an ongoing basis as a consultant for different governmental and nongovernmental organisations.
Travis Young, PhD, is a postdoctoral associate in the Department of
Environment and Sustainability at the University at Buffalo. Before
completing his doctorate at Penn State University, he worked as a
disaster recovery planner in the Texas Gulf Coast following Hurricane
Ike. Through ARC Discovery and National Science Foundation
grants, Travis worked with Kate Booth and Chloe Lucas exploring the
connections between bushfire risk and home insurance in Australia.
