Shipping activity was the most likely vector for the introduction of these species into the
Marchica lagoon.

Discussion and conclusions
The recent bioinvasions in the Marchica lagoon reveal that this coastal ecosystem is at
risk of biological invasions. Accordingly, the lagoon has to be monitored regularly to
better understand the effects of these bioinvasions on native biodiversity.
