What further lessons hâve you taken from Butendiek?
Achim Berge Olsen: We pursued a very collaborative approach with our contractual partners and the
approval authoritiesfrom the outset. That paid off and it is something we wantto continue. There will be
one change for the Nordergründe project among the major contract packages: we hâve now gained so
much expérience with the logistics and ail the installation vessels reguired that we now believe we can
manage these tasks in house - which will benefit the profitability of Nordergründe. In any case we hâve
learned to control the interfaces between ail the important disciplines with the necessary précision.
Thanks to Butendiek we now hâve the confidence to believe we can do a lot ourselves!
You both mentioned the wpd team. What changes hâve you seen in your own team in the more than four years?
Martin Lehnhoff: The whole team identified with Butendiek from day one. Even outsiders noticed that.
Working with the team that has grown to around 60 committed employées overthe course of time, has
been very enjoyable. Thanks to this team spirit, we hâve been able to enthuse the new colleagues and
motivate the experienced wpd employées over and over. The entire team should be proud of what it
has achieved. Thanks to the positive expérience at Butendiek, we now hâve a highly motivated team for
Nordergründe and subseguent projects. This an excellent calling card for us, and we are well prepared
for the next projects at sea.
What will you do after the official opening of Butendiek?
Martin Lehnhoff: We will make sure there is a clean handover to our colleagues in operations. But my
focus will be increasingly on the next projects. We will be working more and more on different projects
which will bring new challenges for our team. So far we hâve been able to concentrate our entire efforts
on one single project, as for Butendiek. The trick in future will be to spread our resources and capacity
across several projects running in parallel. But we will manage that too.
