The new EEG stipulâtes that projects involving renewable energies are in future to be remunerated on the basis of a bidding process.
How will this affect any possible financing of further offshore wind farms by Bremer Landesbank in view of the fact that so far noone knows what the bidding model will look like?
It is indeed correct to say that it is not clear yet how rémunération will be structured from 2020. At the
moment we would finance further projects on the basis of the current EEG with the familiar accélération model. If we hâve a conversation in two years about a finance package, the design of the bidding
model will be a lot clearer. For us it is important that there continues to be broad political support for
the expansion of offshore wind power in this country. As our focus is on supporting mid-sized companies, the bidding model should continue to offer the chance to réalisé projects such as Butendiek even
after 2020.
wpd plans to build further offshore wind farms.
Yes. That's right. Let's see if we can corne together again for one project or another.
Bremer Landesbank whose shareholders include Norddeutsche Landesbank with 54.8 percent, the
State of Bremen with 41.2 percent as well as Sparkassenverband Niedersachsen with 4.0 percent,
is undoubtedly among the largest financiers in the wind sector in this country. The loans so far given
by the Hanseatic bank from the Weser for renewable energies primarily in Germany since 1991, total
around 4.5 billion euros. Of this sum, 3.5 billion went to wind power, 600 million to photovoltaics and
400 million to biogas projects. According to its own figures, Bremer Landesbank has fmanced about
every tenth wind turbine operating on the grid in Germany today. Its market share of the new turbine
business in 2013 was around 15 percent.
