CDC Infrastructure
CDC Infrastructure is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the French finançai institution, Caisse des dépôts et consignations [CDC]. For
the various pension funds which it administers, CDC Infrastructure invests money in long-term infrastructure projects with a
focus on traffic, energy, télécommunications and the environment. For example, it has a stake in GRT Gaz [the most important French group for the transportation of gas and subsidiary of
GDF Suez], LGV Sud Europe Atlantigue [operating company for
the planned high-speed rail route between Tours and Bordeaux],
Gassled [Norway s leading gas transportation network operator]
and motorway operator, Sanef.
ewz
Elektrizitâtswerk der Stadt Zurich is one of the ten largest energy
suppliers in Switzerland and since 1892 it has been supplying the
town of Zurich and parts of the Graubünden canton with electricity. ewz has been investing massively in renewable energies for
years in orderto provide safe, ecological power.
Investing in Butendiek signifies a further diversification of its wind
power activities for Zurich s municipal utility. At the beginning of
2014, when it took a stake in the Butendiek project, ewz had a
wind power portfolio of around 70 mégawatts most of which is
in operation in Germany with five wind farms with an output of
around 55 MW. But that is not set to stay that way. The production
strategy, "Electricity Future 2012 - 2050", which the company
opted for in 2012, provides for an expansion of its wind power
portfolio to a good 770 MW. The Butendiek investment therefore
bringsthe company from Zurich one step closerto the goal it has
set itself.
