(orbit 9077, frame 1521). A directional wave spectrum was collected by a buoy
deployed in a location inside the SAR scene but some time before the satellite
pass. The scene includes a région of frazil-pancake ice which extends along the
azimuth direction, mostly in the mid-range direction of the radar acquisition;
régions of open océan are présent in the near range and far range région of the
scene.
Following the direction of the wave number peak, a sériés of 15 Windows each
of 512 x 512 pixels hâve been extracted from the SAR scene to compute spectra of
256 x 256 pixels with wave number incrément of 19.635 x 10’4 m’1. The selected
Windows are shown in Fig. 1, the numbering order going from the near to far
range so that it follows the propagation direction of the wave Systems from open
sea to ice-covered sea.
In general, the algorithm convergence was found to be very sensitive to the
choice of parameters p,q and B of Eq. (13). Although an optimum sélection of the
parameters has not been carried out, the best performance has been found with
the following values:
A
P = 0.01Pmax
q = 50000 (f P(k)dk)3
B=10-34axFig. 1. ERS-1 SAR PRI scene of the Odden ice tongue, Greenland Sea, of April 10, 1993
