6 Cases of Blowing or Drifting Snow
It is important to separate the amount of snowfall and the flux rate of blowing
snow. To date there are no data of annual précipitation at considered stations,
because it is difficult to measure only the amount of snowfall under conditions of
strong wind. Besides, also the changes of the snow surface level measured by the
snow stakes method do not represent the précipitation, and even a visual observation of précipitation is often impossible in heavy drifting snow.
