influence of current velocities. After a simulation period of 120 days
it can be seen (Figure 8.8) that at the corner of the breakwater, where
current velocities are high, there is local scouring, while adjacent to
the scouring the eroded sediments were re-deposited. A close-up of the
sedimentation phenomenon is presented in Figure 8.9.
It should be emphasized that although the model depicts the location of the bed deformation, the predicted scouring and accretion
depths are very approximate and require calibration of the physical
