acknowledge all the members of the US DOE CO 2
Survey Science Team, the NOAA-OACES investigators and the international CO 2 Survey investigators for their cooperation and hard work
throughout the Survey. I particularly want to
thank my colleague Ken Johnson for his enormous
selfless effort: his contribution was central to the
Survey’s success. Thanks also to Rick Wilke, Craig
Neill and Ernie Lewis for their superb field and
laboratory work and Jürgen Holfort for his collaboration, and patient education of a chemical
oceanographer concerning ocean transport. Special thanks go to Peter Guenther, Dave Keeling,
Andrew Dickson, Gabriel Rosón, Niki Gruber and
Chris Sabine for providing me with materials that
helped me write this chapter.
The Survey was supported actively by both the
JGOFS and WOCE scientific communities. This
support was of particular value during a mid-term
funding crisis within the US. Finally, a major
thank you is in order to the WOCE Chief Scientists, PIs, students and technicians who provided
laboratory space, logistical support, and vast
amounts of hard-won supporting data to the CO 2
chemists involved with the Survey.
