when hog calcitonin was injected into the teleost Fundulus heteroclitw.
It may be significant that the bone in this fish is acellular and incapable
of normal bone resorption. On the other hand, Louw et u2. (1967) did
obtain a significant lowering of plasma Ca and P when hog calcitonin was
injected into the catfish, Zctulurus m e h . Chan (1969) also reported a
hypocalcemic response in the eel, Anguillu unguilla, as shown in Fig. 7.
Both of these fish have cellular bone. Chan also observed that removal
of the ultimobranchial glands in Anguillu juponicu resulted in a significant
increase in plasma calcium 4 weeks after the operation. The results are
