The zoea larvae of carids, especially those of Oplophorue, IIynLsnod o ~ u
and Syetellaspis, have very reduced mouthparts which are probably
not functional. Presumably they feed entirely on the yolk in their
thorax during the early stages, and after metamorphosis they soon
adopt the feeding behaviour of the adults.
Except for Zimmerman's work on Lucifer chncei, no studies have
