the Antarctic form) comes from the Magellan Region. Neither of these
forms appears to have any close relatives in the rest of South America
although the scaphopod fauna of this area is poorly known. They may
both be considered to be elements of the " old Antarctic fauna ) ) which
have extended to South America. Neither species has any close relations
in South Africa, southern Australia or New Zealand.
