the presence of the Equatorial Countercurrent. An interesting point is
the very broad spread of high phosphorus values, just east of Hawaii,
nearly 30' in latitude. The chart of zooplankton shows much the same
structure, but the South Equatorial Current is more prominent, showing
the Marquesas divergences. The Equatorial Countercurrent is quite
distinctly shown from north of Australia almost to the shores of Costa
Rica. An interesting point is the lacuna south of the South Equatorial
Current in the eastern tropical Pacific, which appears in analogue off
