C-l:C-6 results and theirs to the much longer exposure of the animals
to cold intervals, which perhaps may profoundly influence the tissue

metabolic rates. Since the cold-exposed rats have a depressed capacity
for TPNH production, owing to the reduced activity of the dehydrogenases, then the decreased fatty acid synthesis observed may be
ascribed to the decreased level of these enzymes. The reason for the
reduced dehydrogenases activities is unknown, but the decrease is not
due to hyperthyroidism in the cold, since this condition is known to
lead to enhanced G-6-P DH and 6-PG DH activities.
