Bieber et al., 1959; Grant, 1958; Gregg and L0vtrup, 1960a, etc.). Very
recently, a fluorometric ultra-micro method for DNA estimation has
been adapted, in our laboratory, to the special case of amphibian eggs
(Baltus and Brächet, 1962). The results we obtained (Fig. 1) are essentially the same as those published with the microbiological method : the
DNA content remains practically constant until the late blastula stage,
after which rapid synthesis of DNA begins.
