Each of the foggara owners, proportionally to his rights, then receives
his portion of the water through the orifices cf a distributor shaped like
a comb, from which it is stored in special basins (Fig. 13). This apparatus
distributes the water in the irrigation system of pipes, or seguia (Fig. 14).
A foggara-irrigated region can easily be recognized at a distance by the
lines of its water sumps. The inside of the foggara is high and wide enough
to allow a man to walk through it for cleaning purposes and for getting
rid of any debris which accumulate.
