4. Permanent Pools
One also finds a few, rare, more or less permanent water pools called
guelta in Arabic, and aguelmane in Tuareg. These are generally located
in mountainous massifs. In the mountains of the central Sahara, these
water holes are deep and large, located in the middle of rock formations,
