The Bahama Bank is a modern example of a rimmed carbonate platform (Fig. 6.54).
The bank margins are marked by minor reefs and extensive areas of oolite shoals. Morphologically these are analogous to the sand waves of the northwestern shelf of Europe
previously described (Fig. 6.55). The sand waves migrate across a scoured surface of
