Abstract:
Torpedo marmorata is a batoide belonging to the Torpedinidae’s family of Elasmobranchii’s subclass. It is considered as a bycatch not negligible of trawl fisheries targeting the species to great
economic importance. Currently, in the Mediterranean Sea, there are several studies on the torpedoes,
nevertheless it remains of the ambiguities concerning the age and growth of Torpedo marmorata
living in the Mediterranean Sea.
The behaviour’s study of T. marmorata is made with the data collected during the survey "Thalassa"
and "Ichthys-Joamy" (1982). This part based on numerical analysis of ecology, targets distributions
and communities (structure and diversity): specific richness, specific diversity and characteristic
communities give an image of the structure of the settlement associated to the marbled torpedo.
Two multivariate analyses have been performed on the associated populating (benthic) in three
regions of the Algerian coast to determine interactions between species and thus determine the species
strongly associated to T. marmorata.
The analysis of the age structures and the analysis of the size structures of T. marmorata have allowed
obtaining the parameters of its growth and its indices of exploitation by different methods.
A mixed-multi fleet approach with a change of mesh has been carried out in order to assess the state
of the stock and to issue caution recommendations, even if the level of exploitation is at its optimum.
